My wife and I purchased a 2004 TL from McDaniels who informed us that the car was in a minor accident where the original owner, a horse ranch owner, had hit a horse on his farm. I purchased the car in May of 2007 and we got the extended 100K miles plus the 40K on it, 7 year "bumper to bumper" warranty where all of our worries would be taken care of. The day I left the dealership in my car the rear view mirror fell off on the way to Florence, SC. I took the car to the Honda Dealership there and they informed me there would be a fee for them to put it back on. So I was going to wait until I got back to Charleston to have them put it on. The next day I noticed the driver side flasher did not work, however, their 100 plus inspection missed that, when I got back to Charleston, I had experienced rain and found that sunroof leaked. Of course, they promised to fix that, but the light would cost $100.00 dollars and it was not under the warranty. They did not want to give me a loaner either due to I needed to schedule a time to bring it in that was convenient for them and I worked out of town. I told them, I wanted my trade in back and did not need the car. They then changed their mind and fixed the light for free, but after a huge hassle. On my way back to Florence where I worked at the time, the rear door handle fell off, and again, it rained and my roof leaked. After three months of taking the car back and having them blow out the vents to the sunroof, I was dis-satisfied with their performance. I got into a minor fender-bender and from a Dealership in Lincolnton, NC professional opinion and pictures were taken of the auto regarding the minor accident before - it turned out to be a major problem and the person's, who was at fault for my accident, insurance would not cover all the costs to repair the auto correctly. They did fix the leak for me, which was also due to the horse accident, apparently the horses hair was not removed entirely from the seal of the front windshield. Now a year later, I am faced with a situation because my clutch is going in the car, not to mention my tires have been lasting about 15K miles before going dangerously bald, which Acura's response is . . . "the 04 TL's are having that problem and we are very sorry," I had taken the car to a local transmission shop and got it diagnosed because I no longer have a desire to step foot into Acura of Charleston, they gave me a quote and diagnosed the problem for free. My wife called Acura against my wishes, but wanted to see if it was covered under the warranty, turns out they said it very well could be with 90K on the car to bring it in and they would look at it. Again, they could not promise me a loaner because of a storm coming in. So, I did and in my mind I was trying to change my mind about the Dealership. After about 3 hours they said my car was ready, that it did need a new clutch and that it was found to be normal wear and tear . . .and that it was $116 dollars for the assessment of the car which could be deducted from the price of the clutch replacement, of course, their price was 2 times the amount the other establishment had charged. I blew up due the the fact that they were now charging me to tell me something, I already knew. I learned 2 things that day, one I will never own another Acura - which we have 2 of in my drive way right now, and two - I will continue to tell everyone I know not to do business with McDaniels of Acura unless they want to spend more than should and feel like they have been taken advantage of right in front of their eyes.
