I entered into a purchase agreement with Matteson Imports for a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsberg edition on 2/19/07. Their website says "At Matteson Volkswagen we will be beat any deal on any new vehicle we sell, or we'll give you the car free." I came in with a price quote via email from Autobarn Volkswagen in Mount Prospect of $19014. I have a copy of the email from Mike Brice in my possession. Matteson Imports said they would sell my a new Jetta for $18995, but they would order the car and it would be in no later than Wednesday 2/21/07. I have a signed purchase agreement in my possession. They also said they ran my credit to see if I qualified for the special rate of 4.9%. I have in my possession proof they did not run a credit check on 2/19/07. The salesman who made the deal with my was Eric Brown cell phone number 708-224-8233. I placed a $1000 deposit with Eric check number 918. Rolando the sales manager came in an confirmed the deal with me. I was told I would be called by Eric Brown that on Tuesday 2/22/07 he would call me and tell me when the car would be in. He did call me and told me he was going to pick the car up on Wednesday 2/21/07 at 1:00 pm and that the car would be in no later than 3:00 pm on 2/21/07. On 2/21/07 I called Eric Brown and he told me my car was not in, but I would be in on 2/22/07 he told me the Vin # was 3VWEF71K07M075198. I called Rolando the sales manager at 8:45 on 2/21/07 and he said my car would be in no later than 8:00 pm on 2/22/07. I received a call from Sid at 1:30 on 2/22/07 and he left a message on my answering machine stating that my car would "probably, probably, probably be in Friday or Saturday. When I called Eric Brown on 2/22/07 he said my car would be in on Friday 2/22/07. I called Sid and he confirmed this information for me. I went to Matteson imports and Rolando put the Vin number (same as Eric gave me) on my sales slip and said it would be delivered by 2/33/07. That's not a typo that is what Ronaldo wrote down. I called Volkswagen's cooperate customer care line at 10:00 am on 2/23/07. The number there is 800-822-8987. My reference number is 700712238 with Volkswagen customer care. They have a file voicing my concerns about this dealer. I got a response from Volkswagen after the spoke with Renaldo at Matteson Imports. They said the he told them "your car make take 7 days it come in but it was in transit. If you had proof the check clear they would refund your money." When I called to speak with Eric Brown on this matter he told me he was off my sale and Rolando will not sell me a car because I called Volkswagen on them. This is despite the fact I have a written sales agreement with Matteson Imports for this car. I told Eric Brown on 2/23/07 at 3:45 I would be in later to pick up my deposit check. They also told Volkswagen they refused to sell the car to me. When I went to pick up my check from Matteson Imports they couldn't find it. I was approached Robert Majesky who asked if he could help me. I was on the phone with Brian ((708) 428-5000) from Volkswagen of Orland Park at this time. Rob asked if he could help me, and I said " no not at this dealer, I just want my check back." Rob quickly responded "So you're the jag off. You're so stupid we don't have your check. Get the **** out of the dealership before I call the cops." I said wasn't leaving with out my money. He then told another salesman to call the police and told me I stupid for walking away from his deal and that he had mailed the check. I ask when and he said "When you terminated the deal, now get the **** out this is private property." I left out of fear of being arrested and on advice from Brian at VW of Orland Park. He heard the whole conversation and told me to put a stop payment on my check. I never once terminated the deal, the dealer terminated it. They went back on the deal they agreed on they agreed with my on 2/19/07.
