This place seems to go above and beyond to live up to the "used car salesman" stereotype. Pressure, pressure, pressure. I was shufffled around to three different people and before I even got out of the car I test drove, I was being pressured to put down a deposit and sign contracts. I DIDN'T EVEN LIKE THE CAR I TEST DROVE, not that the guy would listen to me! They were trying to get me to financing based on the car I DIDN'T like and talking monthly payments that were ridiculous. I literally felt like I was drowning. Luckily I got out before signing anytihng.
They DO have a bad reputation and now I see why. Yuck.
We were greeted at the door and told the sales person we just were going to look at their used cars. He asked us to come in and began filling out a customer information sheet. When he asked for our SSN's, I asked him why he needed them, and he told me it was because they were going to see what kind of loan/rate they could get us. Mind you, we hadn't even LOOKED at a car! I told him that before we discussed finances, I wanted to at least LOOK at the inventory to make sure there was something we would be interested in. He kept pushing the issue and we got up to leave. At that point, a manager came over and gave us the spiel about how he didn't want us to fall in love iwth a car that he couldn't get us in to. I explained that we just wanted to see what their inventory was and that I wasn't comfortable discussing any financal information until we were interested in an actual car. I mean, if there was nothing we liked on the lot, and our credit reports had been run, we would be facing multiple credit inquiries which could adversely affect us at another dealership! The manager became very rude and loud, and we left.
I think this dealership has a reputation for working with people with bad credit and they feel as though they can push them around and bully them because their options are more limited. And I would encourage these customers to stay away.
The sad part is... we purchased a car there about two years ago, unaware of their awful reputation. When we've mentioned Barberino to people they've ALL shuddered! This place is KNOWN for these tactics! I still defended the place saying that our last experience was great.
We were completely prepared to purchase another car that day. And we did.... somewhere else!

I am very disturbed by the review that was left by an alleged customer. I am the Customer Relations Manager at Barberino Nissan. We are not a rude, high pressure car dealership. We do ask customers for their personal information so that we can get them approved for financing should they require it. This is a common practice at most car dealerships all over the US. Here at Barberino Nissan, we treat our customers with the repsect that they deserve. We realized that there are maney dealerships to choose from. We have no need or interetst in being rude to customers. That is just not the way we do business here. Which is one of the reasons that we are one of the areas oldest and most respected delaers in the state. I hope we can have the chance to prove this to all new and returning customers. By any chance if you come to the dealership and you are not complety happy, I want to know about it!!! Juan M. Customer Relations ManagerBarberino Nissan

I am not an "alleged" customer... I am an EX-Customer and this is EXACTLY what occured at your dealership on 8/19. When I refused to give your sales person my SSN for the basic "customer information" sheet, I was treated like I was being difficult and unreasonable. Is it common practice at dealerships to require a credit check before a customer even looks at the inventory? To me it seems counterproductive on both the dealership's end and the customer's end... a complete waste of time and unneeded inquiries on your credit report. And furthermore, the salesperson and manager had our basic contact information from the sheet. If you were that concerned, you should have contacted us.
