We were looking for a Jeep with some particular features, and we found one at Quality Chevrolet Dodge at 1828 Saint Paul St in Gonzales, TX listed online for $16,900. On a Wednesday we call to get the VIN to research and asked Donna (sales person) to confirm that the mileage was 35000, and she did. She stated she did not have the VIN, and she would call back. We never received a call after over 24 hours, so we called back and she said she lost our phone number, but said she had emailed the VIN to us (we never received an email).
We eventually got the VIN and made an appointment for Saturday to test-drive. Donna assured us the car would be there, and we made the two-hour trip to Gonzales. When we arrived, she said the Jeep was at another dealership and we agreed to wait "thirty minutes" (her words) for her to go and get it. After 1 hour and 15 minutes she returns with the Jeep. THE JEEP HAD 41882 MILES ON IT!
We asked why there were over 6000 more miles on the Jeep than advertised and Donna stated "maybe it was a dealer car". Upon test-drive we learned the brakes needed to be completely replaced. We asked why that was not disclosed to us, and if she had noticed the poor brakes on the drive from the other dealership. She said she hadn't! The brakes would grind so bad there was no way she couldn't have noticed. What's more is the Jeep looked like it hadn't been washed in 3 months (the time they had it on their lot). Even after all that, we were still interested in the Jeep albeit at a lower cost. So we made an offer that was much lower considering the mileage discrepancy and brake condition. She stated that she needed to speak with the manager and so we waited 10 minutes for her to do so. She returned and stated that THEIR FINAL OFFER WAS $16,900 + TTL! They refused to lower the price one penny even after we found out the brakes were shot and they told us the wrong mileage! We walked out.
