My experience with Juan at Autos Direct Online was bad from the beginning. They refused to have the vehicle (a 2004 Audi S4) inspected before I committed to buying it. Once I did and sent them a non-refundable deposit (my first mistake), they found that it needed a new timing chain and related components.
I’d already scheduled my flight out to Ohio (I like in Kansas) to get the car, which I had to cancel. They told me to come the following weekend. So, a little frustrated, I shrugged it off and bought another airline ticket for the following weekend. That didn’t pan out, either. The following Friday, after not hearing from them all week, they called again. The car still wasn’t back from the repair shop. Another airline ticket (about $200 each) down the drain. They promised it’d be done the following week. So, I bought one last ticket and told myself that was it. If it didn’t work out on that third attempt, I was done. But, they called and said the car was ready, so I flew out to get it.
On Friday, Juan had told me to call him on Saturday when I arrived and he’d pick me up from the airport himself. Great, I thought! After sitting at the airport for 30 minutes waiting on him, I called the dealership when I couldn’t reach him on his cell. They said he decided to take the day off, but they would send someone to pick me up. 30 minutes later, an older guy (they call him Uncle-something.. Bill? Ben? Buck?) showed up. The ride back to the dealership with him was probably the best part of the entire experience.
I got back to the dealership and spotted my car, which they’d pulled up and parked close to the building. It was filthy dirty, but otherwise looked like what I’d seen in the photos. There were a LOT of people there that day, and they were busy. Since Juan was nowhere to be found, I didn’t know who to speak with, but they assured me someone would be with me soon. “Soon” amounted to TWO HOURS later before anyone got to me. Then, we started paperwork.
I asked about the repair records, as Juan assured me he’d get me a copy of all the work they had done. The finance guys (Sean and Rollie) knew nothing about it, but that wasn’t entirely surprising. They told me while we were working on paperwork, they’d have someone find those records. That never happened. So, they assured me they’d send them once Juan got back to the dealership the following week. Six months later, I still have nothing.
Now the real fun part.
I expected that when they delayed my purchase for THREE weeks, costing me over $600 in airline tickets, the car would actually BE fixed. The drive from Cleveland to Wichita, KS where I live was almost exactly 1,000 miles. About 500 miles into the drive, the power steering pump went out. Horrible screaching and whining sounds came from the car and it was incredibly difficult to turn. We stopped in St. Louis for the night and luckily, a Firestone was open on Sunday morning. They checked it over and confirmed the power steering pump failure. I tried calling Juan and sending a few texts, but no reply. The check engine light came on and hasn’t turned back off ever since.
After getting the car home, it went to the shop the next day (Monday) to have the power steering pump replaced. $600 dollars and almost a week later, I was pretty irritated about this whole transaction. The check engine light was STILL on, and the mechanic told me it was a “cam shaft position sensor” and both right and left motor mounts. He guesses Autos Direct Online erased the check engine light right before selling it to me so I wouldn’t know anything was wrong.
Then, the air conditioner quit working. It blew air, but not cold air. So, I had it charged. $60 bucks later, I had that fixed and the car drove nicely for a couple months.
At the end of May, the car started idling rough and making clattering sounds, and the check engine light came back on. Once again, I took it to the shop. In this time, I’d put roughly 6,000 miles on the car from the time I bought it, 1000 of which was just driving home from Autos Direct Online. This time, after diagnosing it, they said the timing chain was bad and needed replaced (I hadn’t told the mechanic that Autos Direct Online supposedly had the work done). The estimated repair bill from the mechanic: $8,000. I paid $12,500 for the car, so I was blown away.
I tried calling Juan a couple times and after getting no answer, left a message asking him to call me back. He’s never returned my calls.
I stopped driving the car and drove an old work truck I borrowed from a relative. I was a little skeptical about the diagnosis (and the mechanic), so I took it to a different shop at the beginning of July. They spent three weeks going over the car and came back with a similar diagnosis: the timing chain, tensioners and guides would need replaced. Their estimate: $10,000.
I took the car back home and parked it again while I tried to figure out what to do. I don’t have $10k sitting around to fix the car, and even if I did, it’d be a horrible decision to dump it into a 10 year old car with 100,000 miles, which has a book value barely any higher than the repair bill! I talked to a few friends, who recommended I take it to a different shop who might be able to help me out. I did that this week and had it diagnosed.
I got the car back yesterday along with a very similar diagnosis. This mechanic, who only works on VW and Audi vehicles, said the timing chains and all their components (tensioners, guides, etc) needed replaced, as well as at least one (but likely both) of the cam adjusters, which was causing the car to advance the timing, even though the computer in the car didn’t call for it to be advanced. Doing this work requires him to pull the motor completely out of my car. Just the labor on pulling the motor out (and putting it back in when he’s done), assuming he did no actual work to it, is $2,500. That’s the maximum liability amount per claim on the extended warranty Autos Direct Online sold me. His repair estimate was $9,000, which would leave me $6,500 out of pocket.
Conclusion
I waited several months until I was confident I had an accurate diagnosis of the problem before writing this review. In the 6 months I’ve had the car, it’s been completely out of commission for at least 2 months, and it’s been at three different shops, who all come back with the same (or similar) diagnosis, indicating that Autos Direct Online either a.) willfully and intentionally lied to me and didn’t do any of the work they claimed to have done, delaying me 3 weeks on picking up the car OR b.) didn’t have the work done correctly and completely (perhaps only a few of the smaller parts replaced).
Either way, I owe $13,000 on a car that needs $8,000 – $10,000 in work that Juan at Autos Direct Online told me was done. I specifically remember him calling when he allegedly got the car back from the shop and telling me “Mike, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting for these 3 weeks, but now you’re going to have a car that will last you another 100,000 miles. I call BS, Juan. It made it 6,000.
Frank went out of his way to re-paint the front and rear bumper on the car. He had everything ready when we arrived. We purchased a 2004 Honda Accord EX. Overall we had a good experience but there were a few things that I wish he would have told us before we came. The car had been smoked in and there was a little rust on the back wheel well. Other than these couple disappointments we were happy with the service we received.
I love the 2007 Lincoln MKX I purchased. Since I was out of state, I was only able to see it via pictures, and it was everything I had expected. I appreciate the honesty.

I moved to Ohio after graduating college and was in the market for my first car. After looking online, I decided to make an appointment at Autos Direct Online. They had a few different cars that I was interested in, all of which were at the lowest prices I could find. I test drove a 2008 Cadillac STS and immediately fell in love. Dan McIntyre made the purchasing process an absolute breeze! I drove the car off the lot that day. I would recommend to anyone!

Purchased a 2010 Buick Enclave and drove it 2500 miles with absolutely no problems. It did have 1300 more miles than the odometer said at the time of purchase. They did keep it for us for a few weeks before we could fly over to get it and didn’t charge us a storage fee. Very good communication which made it easy to finance and purchase from a long distance. We would not hesitate to deal with this company again or recommend them to any of our family and friends. (we financed locally, so we cannot rate their financing)
Last week, I bought my 2006 Volvo S40 from Autos Direct Online. I had been researching this make a model for weeks. I called Autos Direct Online Monday morning and put a deposit down on the vehicle and was able to pick it up and drive it home Thursday afternoon. The whole buying process seemed pretty effortless. Being able to view the Carfax online helped ease my mind since I put a deposit down before seeing the vehicle in person. Upon arriving at the dealership, my car was pulled up to the door for me to inspect and test drive. My salesman, Danny Mac, then had all the paperwork ready to be filled out and got me out the door as soon as possible. He was very understanding that my mom and I had driven 5 hours to pick up this car and wanted to get home as soon as possible. Although I haven’t yet had my car a week, I love it and am very happy with my purchase thus far!
I purchased a 2004 Toyota 4runner. I could not match the price in the area where I live. Dan Caldwell was my salesman, he efficiently took care of all necessary paperwork, and the entire process went smoothly. The car is in very good condition just as advertised.
Great discription great service ! I understand it is a used vehicle but it was used in excellent condition!!!
I was looking for a used Honda Pilot for about a month when I stumbled upon Autos Direct Online. I called to ask a few questions and my salesman Jeff Payne was very helpful. I set up an appointment to look at it and after a test drive I was sold. Great car at a price I could not find after weeks of looking. Thanks to Jeff and everyone at Autos Direct Online for taking the hassle out of buying a car.
I would like to thank Julie Turner and everyone else at Autos Direct Online. I am now a proud owner of a 2006 Toyota Avalon. The car is in great condition and I am looking forward into purchasing another car in the future.
I bought a 2005 Honda Element. It’s in good conditions and it runs great . Am really happy with the service Danny Mack gave me.the customer service it was excellent and they got nice people working there.I will recommended to anyone I know it’s going to buy a car.
Julie was absolute wonderful helping me get my ’09 Toyota Prius! The buying experience was fast friendly and helpful.
I recently purchased a 2002 Honda Accord from Autos Direct Online and I couldn’t be happier with my new vehicle. I personally want to thank my sales associate, Jeff, for all that he did to make my purchase as pleasant of one that I have had in recent memory. I was especially impressed with the company’s low price on my vehicle, which first peaked my interest ordering from New Jersey, and after dealing with Jeff I am sure my next car purchase will be with Autos Direct. Thanks Again.

I wasn’t pressured to buy now as it says above. I accidentally clicked on the wrong tab. My experience with Jeff and Autos Direct was great all around. Highly reccommend them.
Autos Direct Online totally changed my thoughts of the used car buying experience. I spoke with Dan Caldwell, he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I was very concerned about purchasing a vehicle over the computer/phone and not having enough information or being told the entire situation with the vehicle, i.e.looks of the vehicle, mechanical condition, natural wear and tear, etc. During my phone conversations with Dan Caldwell I asked him very in-depth questions about the condition and shape of the vehicle. He told me about the scratches, dings, mechanical and condition of the interior. He was even able to send me some pictures of the scratches. A great feature that I used was the free CarFax report.
After making my deposit over the phone and sending the wire transfer, I flew into Cleveland. Dan picked me up at the airport and when I got to the office all the paperwork was ready and the car was freshly washed. I could not believe the condition of my vehicle. It was better looking than the pictures and Dan’s description.
This experience totally changed by thought of the used car buying process. From now on I will be contacting Dan Caldwell at Autos Direct Online for my next vehicle purchase. I have also started to refer my friends and co-workers.
My wife was online car searching for a vehicle. She was on the Auto Trader website and ended up on autosdirectonline.com. I am a skeptic so I wasn’t too sure about the online thing. Once she got everything set up, I reluctantly went in to check out the vehicles. I was pleasantly surprised. They had a large inventory with great cars and very good prices, a lot with low miles too. We were helped by Dan Caldwell. He was very helpful and very informative. He was straight up in telling us the little stuff that our vehicle needed. Everyone was nice, making sure someone had waited on us. Sean, who closed the sale, was also very helpful and thorough, but most importantly, they made purchasing our 2007 Dodge Durango, a smooth and easy experience. I’m considering going back there for our 2nd vehicle!
I was online car searching for a vehicle. I was on the Auto Trader website and ended up on autosdirectonline.com. It was only minutes before an online agent was available to assist me. He said that he would have a sales person call me the next day and they did. I talked to salesman Dan Caldwell via telephone for about 2 weeks before getting there to purchase our vehicle. He was very helpful and very informative. He was forthright in telling us the small things that our vehicle needed. Once we got there, everyone was courteous, making sure someone had waited on us. Sean, who closed the sale, was also very helpful and thorough, but most importantly, they made purchasing our truck, a 2007 Dodge Durango, a smooth and easy experience. I’ve been telling everyone about them!
My experience with Autos Direct Online buying my Volvo XC90 was very satisfying. I appreciated the attention and patience Julie Turner, my sales person had towards any safety suggestion I had for the vehicle. The entire staff were just as accommodating . My future plan is to definitely use this service to buy my daughter’s vehicle’s.
I recently purchased a 2007 Honda Accord from ADO. When I initially called to inquire about the car, salesman Jeff Payne was very knowledgeable of the car details as well as being personable and professional. In addition to the competitive price, he made me feel very comfortable completing the deal and would recommend him and ADO to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle in the future.
My experience at autos direct online was up and down… but in the end they are a quality organization that did the best they could for me. I found a Cadillac CTS simply a beautiful car, after my test drive the salesman asked for a deposit, I just wasn’t sure till I talked with my wife.. so the next day I went to buyt it; cash in hand. The salesman called me when I was ten minutes away and I asked if i was still coming.. I said of course, as I pulled in he told me it was sold; I was devastated.. In the end told him to call me if the sale doesn’t go through. I continued to look through the site, because they have very nice vehicles and prices I noticed the car I wanted was listed again. My salesman never called; so I called and Julie Turner answered, she was wonderful we made the deal over the phone so an internet shopper didn’t buy it from under me again. On the way home I smelled something and I just put it off as the heater warming up. At home we found an oil leak.. I took the car to my mechanic and he told about a few problems; I am not a mechanic, so I never noticed them during the test drive. (only noticeable on a lift) I called the dealership right away and talked to Dan M. Who put me in touch with Dan Caldwell (mgr), both quality guys who said they would do everything they could to make this right. now i’m stylin in a Caddy that i wouldn’t have it wasn’t for Julie and team and ADO. I will pass the word and will buy from them again.
Joepo, Glad it went well for you, unfortunately this is not the type of experience I had with this company last December. From the first time I called them till the day I recieved the car I was told the car was “good to go”. Instead upon arrival several things were amiss!! The car had been in a wreck, nicely repaired, but several obvious parts missing that had resulted in serious damage to the car prior to its delivery, the odometer reading given to me and on the title sent to me by ADO was erroneous with over 1000 miles additionally driven!!,the pictures that they had posted on line and sent to me were misleading (cropped down to avoid showing missing eparts under the hood, and there were parts boxes in the car from at a repair shop a few miles from them, evedence that they had tried to make some repairs to the car that they did not report to me. As a result the car sold to me be ADO has not been driven more than 10 miles and remains inoperable and in the mechanic shop while legal action takes place. This outfit, as far as I can tell from the behavior they have exhibited in my case, are interested in one thing getting your money and if the car works you are the lucky one, but if it doesn’t , well you are on your own and they will take NO responsibility regardless of their misrepresentation of the car. BE extremely careful and if I were you, Go Elsewhere.
I purchased a 2007 Audi Q7 from Autos Direct Online. I was most excited about the price. My Audi was 5K-10K cheaper than the other ones I saw. I worked with Dan at Autos Directs Online. My experience with Dan and the Finance department was very pleasant. they treated me with care and not just as another car sold.
I live in Atlanta, and traveled to Ohio to pick up a Lexus Rx330. I spoke to Chris over the phone before I went to Ohio to make sure everything was in order. He offered to pick me up from the airport, and he did just that. Awesome customer service! My wife was in love with car. Thank you Auto Direct. I will see you soon to purchase my car!!
I purchase a 2001 Ford Excursion through Dan Caldwell. I was very impressed with the service I recieved. The customer is #1 with Autos Direct Online. Dan’s communications with me were promt and imformative. If you are looking for a dealer that will work for you call Dan Caldwell at Autos Direct Online. I will be back.
I looked long and hard to find just the right car for us. We decided that the 2005 Mercedes S450 4matic AWD was right for us. Dan Caldwell at Autos Direct Online was helpful from the start, on the phone and in person. The car is really clean for a 2005 and I drove it straight through to Missouri, about 783 miles without any problems. It handled and performed superbly! By the way Dan never pressured me and helped with all my questions and concerns. I like their new facility too.

I recently bought a 2002 BMW 525i from Autosdirectonline for my son. This is my 2nd purchase from them since June 2012. Dan C. was my salesman for both cars and you couldn’t ask for a more helpful, knowledgeable, low pressure individual. This is car buying made easy! Prices are close to wholesale without having a dealer’s license! I was skeptical at first, but now I know I can buy with confidence. You never know for sure when you’re buying a used car, but I’ve been very happy with my 2 purchases. Look forward to our next purchase with autosdirectonline. Keith M.-Memphis, Tn.
I had bought a 2004 BMW 325i from Autos Direct Online. They were the only dealer i had found with the options i was looking for in my price range. I was able to fill out a credit aplication and know that i was approved before id made the fourty five min drive out which was a big plus. My salesman Dan Caldwell was very patient and helpfull through the whole process and was not trying to force anything on me. It had been an overall very pleasent experience that i would recomend to anyone.

I purchased a 2002 Chevy Avalanche from Autos Direct Online on Ebay. I was VERY skeptical of purchasing a truck online that I had not physically touched or drove so I gave Dan a call. The phone call was made after 9 pm on a Friday night and he arranged for me to test drive it next day. The brakes were not good but he promised to fix them and that he did!! He was a very honest person and listened to any concerns we had. I never realized that I could purchase a car without being stressed. When we drove the car home (2 hours away) the truck ran great!!! I still can’t believe that I was able to get a nice looking, low mileage and low cost truck for what I did!! The truck was valued at $2000 more than what I paid for it!! I will definitely do business again with these guys!! Don’t let those couple negative people discourage you. The truck I purchased was used and “AS-IS” and I am thrilled.
Tricia,
I am glad you are happy with your purchase. In the end my only problem with this whole thing was that I was not 2 hours away where I could just go look at the car myself. I was told the car was one thing and was shown doctored photos. And it was not true. I would have probably bought the car anyway but felt very misled and that left a very bad taste in my mouth and with buyer’s remorse for a while. Now that I fixed the few problems I actually love my car.
I know these are used cars and don’t expect perfection. You are right, the cars are very well priced. All I wanted was honesty. Is that to much to ask? Perhaps I expected to much from used car salesmen. I am over it, I made my point on here. I didn’t receive the $100 dollars I was promised because they did not like my review. I think if you can go down there and see the cars yourself before buying them then buying from them is fine. No different then buying from any other used car lot. Unfortunately they game the review system which makes it hard to asses their honesty before hand. I have no problem recommending them if you go check out the cars before you buy, but I would not recommend buying sight unseen or off eBay.
So I would simply say our negative reviews should serve to warn people to look in person before you buy.
Again, I am glad you could see it before you bought it and you are happy with your car.
Rob
Rob, just to be clear. I had a cashiers check made out to ADO and a $500 deposit was put down BEFORE I ever physically touched/saw the truck. I do know that while I was there I heard another “salesman” comment to someone on the phone that they are more than willing to let anyone come look at their cars (without deposit) but they can’t guarantee the car will be there when they arrive because it could be sold. The deposit is for the potential buyer to have a hold on that car over someone else. I could have drove 2 hours away without deposit down but the truck could have been gone as well. I am sorry you had a bad experience but a used car is exactly what it is!! I guess I went into it with an open mind and it paid off. Good Luck.

I recently needed to purchase a car for my daughter. After searching quite a bit, I came across Autos Direct. It was awesome! They had a great selection to choose from and all at amazing prices. I purchased a 2003 Lexus ES300 based on the description and photo’s from their web site. We went to pick it up a couple days later and Juan had it pulled around. He handed us the keys and a temp plate. We drove around for a while and couldn’t believe how nice it was. Everything exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a great car at a great price!
These guys are unethical thieves. They convinced me to purchase an ebay listed vehicle outside of eBay, so they wouldn’t have to pay the fees. I had to give them a 500 dollar deposit but when I went to pick up the vehicle it looked terrible. I did not want to go through with the purchase but they would not refund my money. Please avoid these scam artists.
I live in Atlanta, and drove to Ohio to buy a car for my wife. She loves the RX330 , so i ended up getting her a 2006 RX330. I called to get some info, and I got Chris. He was very helpful. He emailed me all the paperwork prior to me arriving and he picked me up at the airport. Everything was ready to go. Great customer service! And my wife is happy with her Lexus!
Thank you !
Just bought a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ from Autos Direct Online and we love it! We had been researching vehicles for awhile before we found Autos Direct. The Tahoe was just as described and Dave Lastafka was great to work with. Dave and Tara really did everything they could to make this a great experience for us. Their prices cannot be beat!
My name is Joseph, age 23. I was looking for my first car, and had started to think, I would never find one that would fit my needs, then my farther, told me to check out Autos Direct Online. I contacted Autos Direct Online, and spoke with Juan Rosario. Juan setup a time for us to meet, and test drive the Acura RSX 2003. I was sold. Juan made the sale easy and fast for us. I had been too a few car lots, and was greeted with high pressure sales tactics, I did NOT have that with Autos Direct Online, everyone was kind. I would recommend Autos Direct Online to everyone for their next car, And ask for Juan.
My husband and I bought a 2007 chevy tahoe from auto direct online. Our sales associate ws Julie Turner. She was very sweet and handled the process very well. I totally recommend her and this company to other people. Awesome job from everyone.
I had been watching the cars that came thru Autos Direct Online for almost a year before I decided to purchase one and finally came across two Cadillac that I liked. I called Janella and set up an appointment with her for Saturday. We got there early and the place was already starting to get busy. Janella went thru the whole process with me and we went to work on the financing, I took the 2007 Cadillac STS out for a test drive and then waited for about 40 minutes after that to finish up the paperwork. I had no problems and the car is absolutely perfect in every aspect. It was the best deal at the very best price. I have no problem recommending Autos Direct Online to anyone!!!
I saw what looked like a good deal on Auto Trader and called Auto’s Direct.Jaun answered my call I asked him about the condition of the vehicle I was interested in and he told me(this vehicle in undamaged unbrused and in great shape).Like a retard I believed him and put down a $500 deposit and booked a one way ticket to Clevland from Indianapolis to purchase said vehicle.I was picked up at the airport and taken to the dealership and greeted by Jaun who proceeded to pull the vehicle around for me to drive.I drove this piece of s–t about two blocks and returned to the dealership if you could call it that. The airbag deploy light was on.The inspect engine light was on.It had a nasty exhaust leak and some other engine noise. The front tires were bald.and wheels out of alighnment. And the frame was badly coroded. Also the carfax they listed showed no accidents. The auto check I did showed two accidents. All in all a terrible experience A waste of $400 dollars in plane tickets and my only day off and an insult to my intelligence. Thanks Auto Direct.Another unsatisfied customer.
My husband and I puchased a 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Platinum 4 x 4 truck from Autos Direct Online. The truck was an extremely rare and hard-to-find vehicle, and when we got it from ADO for $3,500 less than any other dealer was offering similar vehicles for sale. The truck came with two sets of floormats, and was in excellent condition when we arrived in Cleveland to take delivery. The dealership sent a shuttle to the airport to get us, and the transaction was extremely smooth. Our salesperson, Juan, was extremely communicative and helpful. Excellent experience, great service, exceptional vehicle.
I must admit that the dealership did ask us to review them online, but my review is IN FACT accurate. I was in the automotive retail industry for over TEN YEARS as a woman and I can attest that this was an extremely positive experience. We did not finance or purchase an extended warranties, so I cannot speak to those services (the rating required a star rating of some sort, N/A was not an option) I have the knowledge going in to an automotive purchase transaction to understand NOT to get hosed, but the truck was EXACTLY the on in the photos and Toyota immediately looked at the vehicle when we got back to Virginia (best ten hour drive EVER) and OFFERED TO BUY IT FROM US! People leaving bad reviews probably went into this with eyes WIDE SHUT. Read the CarFAX, set up an appointment to have the vehicle checked before you sign, and research your consumer protection. Did you read the federal Buyers Guide that you signed? As someone else stated, unless you get it in writing it will not hold. That does NOT mean your sales associate was deceptive, s/he may not understand that they are overpromising something, and people make mistakes. I have seen extremely shady practices throughout my career and ADO simply was onthe up-and-up for the entire transaction. We would DEFINITELY buy here again.
I resent your eyes wide shut comment. failure to disclose is dishonest. Excussing it because they are used car salesman and don’t have to be is unacceptable. Would you teach your children those morals, ethics, and values?
I have doctored photos, that’s not “they didn’t know, that’s FRAUD!
I am glad you got a car you like and its in good shape, but do not discount other’s experiences in dealing with these people. People should be warned about them and should exercise caution when buying from them and those of us that feel we were mislead did not have our eyes shut, we expected honesty and accuracy. Maybe too many people have come to accept being screwed and deceived as the norm. That’s a sad statement on our society and those that would basically say “what did you expect?”
Did you not see the car before you bought it? If photos were doctored then would you not have seen that with your OPEN eyes? And who are you to question my morals or what I teach my kids. Our sad society is reflected by people who STALK dealer review sites and blast anyone who had a positive experience. No, people should not be deceived. But buyers should understand that cars break and that for the most part salespeople are NOT trying to scam you. Grow up and stop stalking comments.
I don’t stalk anything. I was deceived and I am trying to warn others. I didn’t blast anyone that had a good experience, and in fact said I was glad you did. It was you who discredited all of us that did not have a good experience with your eyes wide shut comment. Cars do break and when you are selling something that is broken you should be honest its broken and tell people, not hide it or doctor photos. And for someone talking about people with their eyes shut to make a statement about used car salesmen NOT trying to scam you why would you say this “I have the knowledge going in to an automotive purchase transaction to understand NOT to get hosed”. Seems like you are basically saying if you didn’t know you would get hosed so what about those that don’t know? Shouldn’t someone tell them what to look out for.
Now that I have fixed the problems I am quite happy with my car. That, however doesn’t excuse being deceived and lied to. As I said in my review and subsequent comments, they have a good business model, they just forgot to build in honesty and integrity. As I also stated I most likely would have bought my car if they were honest with me. So if they are more up front that I wish them all the success in the world.
Becky, nobody is “stalking” comments…so calm down. We get e-mail updates and see what is being posted about the scums at Autos Direct. Many of us have serious issues with the business practices at Autos Direct, and since the dealership will not address our concerns, we bring them to the forum.
You made a comment about people making “bad reviews”. You don’t know the details of our experiences, so statements like that will get a negative response. Plus, we all know Autos Direct On-line pays people for their reviews. How can you trust a review that was bought???
If the folks at ADO are “stand-up” as you exclaim, post something negative on their Facebook page and see what happens.
I had a great experience with Autos Direct Online. We drove 3 hours to pick up a 2010 Honda Fit and Jeff stayed late to help seal the deal with my purchase. I feel I got a good quality car at a great price!
Did Autos Direct offer you $$$ to write your review? Do you know that their score is an “F” with the BBB.
Nick, do you know that some of us love the cars that we bought from them and are grateful for the great deal we got? Good grief I’m so sick of how some of you are constantly blasting them. I bought mine last year in May and stand by my original review.
Stephen, then stand by your review that you took no $ for. That you would of posted without ANY incentive. When what I was sold was not as advertised, I tried to deal with the dealership directly and got nowhere. They wouldn’t even return a call or e-mail to discuss. That is EXTREMELY POOR and my intent on these forums is to make sure that people understand that if they don’t get lucky with their purchase, like you did, then they are screwed. Why do you think everyone is “blasting” them??? Because they are stand up??? The ADO “blasting” is well deserved.
100% terrible. As soon as I drove of the lot, I didn’t exist. This dealership is a joke. Avoid at all costs. Their “low” prices don’t make up for their lack of ethics and lack of integrity.
I want to make sure they lose sales….I am spreading the word everywhere. Hurt them where they are most concerned….$$$$
My name is Tonya and my Sales Rep was Juan…I purchased a 2001 PT Cruiser on January 23, 2013 that I saw advertised online…The cost of the car was in my price range, so I decided to go view the car. When I met my car (I now call Purple Rain), it wasn’t what I expected; it was loud, and the heat was not working at all. But, I really liked the car, so Juan promised to have the heat fixed and to my surprise they fixed the exhaust for me too!!! Today, my car runs like the Deep Blackberry Pearl the it is…I would recommend Autos Direct Online to anyone that I know looking to buy a car.
It’s good that you seemed to have a good experience at Autos Direct Online (ADO), Tonya. Many, many of us have not. This is evident by the numerous complaints about ADO to the Cleveland BBB, where ADO receives an “F” rating. See for yourself:
http://bit.ly/WNCtkL
Getting an “F” is not an easy thing. It takes lots of willful disregard.
ADO pays for positive reviews. Hopefully, you will receive your promised Visa card. Others have complained that they have not.
Hi Steve,
After pulling your client file, I noticed that you declined the extended warranty that was presented to you, and that you signed the form indicating that you agreed to purchase your Mini Cooper in AS-IS condition. Is this accurate?
Lol….I saw this coming….Steve…its all your fault!!!
“AS-IS” does not give you the right to misrepresent the automobiles or withold information.
Robert is right. I am not arguing that I bought a used car in “AS IS” condition. My argument is the sales person misrepresented the condition of the vehicle prior to sale. Even when I directly questioned him, he lied.
Where is your commitment to customer service that you claim?
To the ADO rep posting here –
For some odd reason, you continue to use this forum to “talk” to me, rather than simply contacting me directly. That’s pretty indicative of the way you guys think about customer service. Facile and all-for-show.
I’ve been doing some investigating of the history of the vehicle I purchased from you and how you misrepresented it. It’s eye-opening.
Stay tuned.
My wife and I purchased an SUV from ADO last year, and got a very fair price. I’m a former car salesman at a different dealer, and I cannot stress enough how the people complaining on here needed to get commitments in writing if they wanted things fixed. Car salesmen may say things to customers to close a deal, and if there is nothing in writing, the customer has no recourse. That’s pretty much how the game works anywhere you go. Were you guys born yesterday?
Look, maybe you got a raw deal, but that’s a reason people say caveat emptor… Buyer beware. The laws in our state heavily favor auto dealers because lobbyists worked hard to make it that way. I don’t think that’s right, but it’s the law of the land. It’s also why the attorney general cannot take action based on negative reviews and supposed conversations. Bottom line, take this as a lesson.
That being said, I look forward to returning to ADO for my next purchase. I know they’re better than the dealership I worked at, and the prices cannot be beat. Just recognize that used is used, and these guys likely know less about these cars than you can get from a carfax report and a mechanic evaluating it, because they’re salesmen, not mechanics. If you want your car fixed, take it to a shop. If you want someone to sell you something, talk to a salesman. Again, no one on here was born yesterday…
So its ok to put doctored photos on line and lie an not be forthcoming to make a sale.!?!?!?
Nice ethics and morals. That’s what society has become? Screw thy neighbor? And people wonder why we have a crime and violence problem in this country. Dishonesty and looking out for yourself at everyone else’s expense sends the right message. Are these values you teach your children? If not then why would you accept it as OK for others to do? And if you did it SHAME ON YOU!
Someone earlier wrote (I think it was some one from ADO) God bless. I don’t think God would look favorably on these practices Do you? The AG might not be able to do anything but if you believe in a higher power I would dress for the heat when your number is called!
Robert, I’m not saying that’s how I do business- I only lasted 3 months in the car biz because I couldn’t stand needing to manipulate and screw people to put food on the table. I actually work in social services and have a master’s degree now- the sales job was my first gig out of college.
However, you have to be the most gullible person in the world to believe that car dealers have your best interests at heart. They exist to sell cars, period. They aren’t there to be your friend or give you a great deal. I thought society pretty much understood that? It’s why we have contempt for salesmen that only rivals our contempt of lawyers?
It’s also true that our laws favor the dealers. If you don’t like that, tell the conservatives in the legislature to change things. I doubt they’ll listen to you, but that’s the only option.
ADO didn’t invent the game, they just play it like all the other dealers. They just happen to offer lower prices, which is why they do a brisk business…
Just because it’s a common practice doesn’t mean it should be and it’s not necessarily correct to accept the status quo and just say well that’s the way it is. That’s why it continues to happen because too many people say oh well that’s the way it is and there’s nothing I can do about it.
Autos Direct Online was amazing to work with! Julie Turner was my sales associate and she was such a delight! She was very respectful of my descision and took her time while I decided. I am proud to say i purchased a 2006 chevy impala, and I LOVE IT! I am honored to have purchased my car from autos direct online! Thank you!!!
We are Mark & Tracy Lukasik, our salesman was Jeff Payne! May I say anyone looking to buy, ask for him, he is OUTSTANDING! We purchased a 2007 Toyota Sienna XLE. We met Jeff, took the van for a test drive, my wife fell in love! We had a couple minor issues, which Jeff was very quick to resolve! (cosmetic issues only). I would HIGHLY recommend, if your looking for a new to you, QUALITY pre-owned vehicle, look no further than Autos Direct Online! Thank You Jeff and company, and kudos for such great work!
I bought an Audi A4 Quatro from autos direct online and it was a very interesting experience. I originally saw the car on EBay and from there I logged onto their site. I was impressed with their pricing so, I paid them a visit. They have a showcase of cars and I was happy when my salesperson Juan brought out the 2005 Audi. Although it has some issues both under the hood and interior, Juan, Tara and Sean have teamed up to insure that the issues will be resolved. To me that is team work keeping the customer satisfied.
I purchased a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid from Danny at Autos Direct Online. Before I found autos direct I was searching all over the internet and not finding anything too promising. Autos Direct was not only reasonably priced, but the service was quick and helpful. Honestly, I got a vehicle that, if I went somewhere else, would have been an extra $1000. I’m really happy with my purchase and recommend them!
This is my first time purchasing a car from autos direct online. Their prices are the best i have every seen around the country. firstly, let me start by saying thank you to my sale rep. JULIE TURNER, my buying experience with her was awesome. she was precise, truthful, and her customer service was exceptional and i would recommend her to anybody who wants to buy a car from autos direct. This is my first BMW, yes you pay for the name, but nothing drives or handles as great as a BMW and I have driven a lot of other luxury cars.
Autos Direct Online proved to be the lowest priced vehicles in the entire U.S. I bought a 2004 Lexus ES 330. My first impression was that the cars must have something wrong, but Dan McSitye, my sales associate, explained in detail what process they take to check the car for issues. He then explained how they take care of the problems that are found. I had some legal questions regarding the title and if there was a lein on the vehicle that I bought, and they were not able to answer those questions, but besides that, Dan knew his stuff. They were flexible and all business. My son will probably buy a car from Autos Direct Online
Autos direct online has been the best car purchasing experience I have ever had. The dealership was very friendly and honest. After long hours of looking for a good used car, I stumbled upon their website. I dealt with salesman Dan McIntire and he was honest and available to answer any questions I had. I ended up purchasing a 2008 Kia Rondo and have been extremely happy with not only the price but the quality of the car. I would recommend this dealership to anyone searching for a good used car!
I purchased a 2004 Durango from them. The truck was clean and delivered as promised. No guess work or surprises. Very easy to buy from. I would buy from them again. Good service and a very good price. There was no pressure to buy from my salesman Jeff P. Very friendly sales staff.
I recently purchased a 2004 BMW 325Ci after shopping around for a few weeks. Autos Direct Online’s prices were not comparable to any other dealers in my area. For a first car, I didn’t something that needed a little work and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Danny McIntyre was extremely helpful and patient as I took my time going through their inventory. Working with Autos Direct Online was a great experience
All of the people I met at Autos Direct were very friendly. I was picked up at the airport and was very pleased by the hospitality of the driver. They had my car pulled up already and handed me the keys to review it. The pictures online were very good and the car had no surprises. I was very pleased with how clean the car was and how there was no pressure while I looked it over. The salesman I delt with was Juan Rosario and even though he was very busy, he still worked to answer my questions in a timely manner.
Needless to say I bought the car and drove it over 600 miles home. Could not be happier with my purchase. Very good deal and great service
These alleged “positive” reviews should be taken not just with a grain of salt, but a whole shaker. They are either bought and paid for (Autos Direct Online offers $100-$200 Visa cards to those who post positive reviews on various sites) – or they are clearly invented by unscrupulous ADO staff.
THEY BETTER SEND ME THE $150.00 I WAS PROMISED OR I WILL SEE THEM IN COURT. WITH THIS EXPERIENCE I WILL DO IT EVEN IF IT COSTS ME $1000.00. NO ONE SAID IN ORDER TO GET THE MONEY MY REVIEWS HAD TO BE POSITIVE. I WAS TOLD THE MONEY WAS FOR MY TIME!
I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED!!!!
Steve,
I am one of the owners at Autos Direct Online. It is apparent by your consistent postings that you are very frustrated with your experience with my company. Can you please take the time to explain the events that transpired during your purchase?
Thank You
And what about the rest of us?
Let me offer you some truly constructive criticism, and I truly mean this to be constructive.
You have an excellent business model. We all know you buy these vehicles at auction and sell them on-line with low prices because you have fairly low overhead and don’t invest a ton in the cars. That’s a fair practice, you are passing along the savings from the auctions to the customer because of the low overhead.
The issue is your staff and your company do not accurately represent the cars you are selling and then pay for good reviews and don’t deal with the complaints that result from the dishonesty. If your cars are accurately portrayed and the information and pictures provided are accurate and people truly know what they are buying then there can be no complaints (although we both know there will always be some) but at least you can show you were honest instead of saying “its a used car”. For example state up front that a car needs tires or not and that you typically do not replace worn tires. Even just a list of the things wrong with the car that need to be addressed that you know of and a list of garages in the area that could do full independent third party inspections or even have them done yourself and make the reports available similar to a more accurate Carfax report. Sort of your own certified pre-owned program. The only thing is you don’t have to fix anything if you don’t want to, just make the problems known. My inspection cost $150.00. That would save you the cost of paying for reviews and the reviews you get will be truly honest, good reviews.
I am hopeful you will change your business practices, I really am. People should not expect a new car when buying a used one but they should be able to expect that what they are getting is what they are told they are getting.
Sincerely,
Robert Bakal
100% agree. And, my first response was “what about the rest of us?” I have tried to deal with ADO post-sale on my own and through the BBB, and you simply ignore my complaint. You falsely represented the condition of the vehicle I purchased and that is on YOU. Its a shame that many of your customers have to take to complaining on sites like this to get your attention.
I urge anyone who has a problem with ADO to continue to complain. It may prevent others from purchasing a vehicle from them.
To the ADO owner who wrote me in this forum –
Yes, I am very “frustrated” with your company and the way my complaint was handled. I had sent you guys numerous emails before – but never got a reply. I have no reason to believe that your overture here – asking me to contact you – will result in a response. You guys know how to reach me. I use my real name, linked to my Facebook profile. You could send me a message that way. You have my email and my mobile number. If you truly want to discuss this matter with me, it’s easy for you to do.
Now that I know that working through the BBB and the AG are not effective recourses, I intend to deploy some other strategies to alert prospective buyers at ADO about the financial and safety risks they would be taking if they were to do business with you. Ultimately, you will understand that whatever profit you made from this unscrupulous transition with me was not worth it at all.
Steve,
Thank you for your response. I am reaching out in an effort to find out where our process broke down during your transaction so that we may better serve our clients moving forward, in addition to finding out how we can achieve some level of satisfaction for you as well. It does seem, however, that you may be past the point of reaching an amicable resolution, judging by your continued statements of “deploying other strategies.” If this is the case, then you certainly have the right to pursue these other avenues, and I could not hold this against you. Please let me know if you are willing to work with us on your situation, or if you prefer instead to continue with your further actions.
To ADO (in reply) –
On January 4, I wrote you an email with the subject heading; “My 2005 MINI S purchase: Finding an amicable resolution.” It was written to the salesperson, Juan Rosario, with Vince and Sean copied.
In the body of the email, I stated:
“I am certainly hoping that we can settle this matter amicably. I have kept you informed about the issue with the car and have provided you authoritative evidence of the issue. You had indicated to me several times that Autos Direct Online would “take care of me” if there proved to be a serious issue with the car. I am asking that you keep your word about this matter.”
So, yes, I always sought to resolve this issue in a cooperative way. However, my communications were ignored, leaving me no other options but to seek other outlets to voice my displeasure with ADO’s poor customer service and broken promises.
If you want to discuss the matter now – toward reaching a resolution – then, as I stated before, you should contact me. You have my mobile number and other other contact info.
They will give you what ever they have to now Steve. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Your tenacity threatens them. They need you to go away. Notice how they have ignored the rest of us. They figure we won’t go as far as you have so they will let us swing in the breeze. I hope they fix your issues Steve.
I recently purchased a 2005 Ford Expedition from Autos Direct online, and I have to the say the transaction exceeded my expectations. My salesman, Juan Rosario was both responsive and available which made for a seamless transaction. I flew into Cleveland, Eddie picked me up at the airport and within a half hour I was on the road. The vehicle was as advertised (actually better than expected) with no surprises. Long story short, clean low millage vehicle at great price!
Within a half hour? Really? It took nearly that long to acknowledge that we were even there. How much we’re you paid to write a good review?
Obviously another fabricated review. Almost laughable. Juan Rosario is a scammer. I know this firsthand.
So do I! Lucky for us we didn’t buy but we try to warn everyone else to STAY AWAY!
They were great to work with.
