On 5/12/08 I traded a n 04' Explorer for an 08' Prius at Forts Toyota. Before the sales transaction the used car manager examined my trade in vehicle and determined that there were some mechanical problems possibly with the AWD system. Stating that they would have some repair costs they offered a low trade in value. Before the deal was complete the used car manager asked if I had an extended warranty. I told my salesman that I did and " I " suggested that we hold off on the deal while I got it checked. The salesman stated that it would not make a difference on the trade and talked me into going through with the deal on that day.
Approximately two weeks later my phone rang one evening with a customer satisfaction survey asking me if I was satisfied with the warranty work performed on my 2004 Ford Explorer on 5/22/08. ( ten days after I traded it ). Someone from Forts Toyota had taken the Explorer in to Uftring Ford in East Peoria where I had purchased it along with the extended warranty on 7/11/05 ( 72 month or 75,000 miles). The Explorer had 51,390 miles and was still covered.
The repair was turned in to the warranty company as if " I " still owned the vehicle and " I " had brought it in. This action not only defrauded the warranty company, but also invalidated the partial refund that I was due by contract for the unused portion of the warranty period. Forts Toyota had received $1267.24 worth of warranty work using my name and information without my knowledge or consent and Uftring Ford in cooperation made money on the repair work. I obtained a copy of the invoice by entering Uftring Ford on 6/8/08 and simply giving them my name and date of service and saying that I needed a copy for my records. There it was Invoice number FOCS387501 with warranty authorization number 082493952 dated 5/23/08 with my name address and home and cell phone numbers all over it and a short paragraph stating what " I " complained was wrong.
After I obtained the Invoice and turned it over to local police Uftring Ford sent me a check immediately for what they claim was my warranty refund and told the police that they returned the check to the warranty company. Any and all conversations with Forts Toyota have resulted in zero apologies and originally stating that they don't feel " We did anything wrong and that we thought it would be alright with you." to " We don't know what your talking about and we have a "bill " from Uftrings. ( I bet they do now ). Bottom line is they intended to defraud me from the start and this seems to be " business as usual "
