My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI had an easy experience buying a gently used 2009 Honda. The car was put through service for a used car inspection and the only thing needing done was new brakes. They replaced all the brakes, did an oil change, full detailing, and even removed a scratch on the front bumper at no charge. The price was excellent, the value I got for my trade was excellent, and I have had zero problems with service or my car for that matter (I’ve had it one year now). I continue to go back for my service with them, even if some competitors are less expensive. The only negative thing I have to say is that the appointment to sign the paperwork took a little longer than I would have liked.

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewTerrible customer service and even worse service dept.Purchased 2013 Sonata GLS and car was lemon from the get.Car had bad engine vibration verified by Service tech after 2nd visit. they claime to have an engineer to slove issue and after total of 7 days in shop was told its probably normal but just live with it.$22000 car with 1750 miles and i was told to live with it. They use scare tactics to stop you from complaining and tell you that you singed the agreement to accept whatever decision Great LAkes comes to and have no recourse other than get a lawyer and sue Hyundai.Nice.The salespeople even talked how she would slip in a oil change cost into car price and he would think it was on the house. That describes the mentality perfectly at Great Lakes Hyundai.Buyer Beware

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewBad experience from the moment I drove in. No salesperson available…very disorganized. Meet with Rob finally….typical car sales experience…all about them. Been in contract few times no response back…have to call them…wth? I would drive out of my way to go to another dealership….customer experience is horrible. If they are like this before what will they be like after? By the sounds of the other reviews….not good. I’m done with them, they need to learn some customer service skills and put them to use. Obviously their reputation needs some repairing!

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI thought Scott was my friend as I lived next to him growing up so I thought it was wise to buy a car from him. What a mistake that was. This car he sold me is a rolling septic tank. I even sealed the deal with some of my best hemp. This guy sells crap at a tremendously high price. I didn’t get but five miles down the road and the front tires fell off. I put them back on went a little further and both bumpers fell off. When I finally got home and called scott, he told me to bring it over in a couple of days and he would glue them back on.He said he couldn’t do it right now as it would harsh his buzz.I then took it to my mechanic and he checked the car out. He found saw dust in the transmission and discovered that someone swapped the motor out and put a 3 cylinder go kart engine in it. It was supposed to have a six cylinder.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review on-line, but please realize that we take these very seriously as they impact out public perception. I realize that this is a joke but other people who read it may not. Thank you for lightening our day!

Great Lakes Hyundai
If you take it seriously then YOU need to fire those employees in service and sales that are making YOU look bad. Complaints are valid and would not be posted otherwise. Customers don’t simply pick out a business and slam it for no reason. You need to wake up, there is obviously a problem and you are part of it. Great Lakes Hyundai has slipped over the past years. I have purchased 5, yes 5 cars from you during the past 7 years and will not do so again due to poor service in the garage, lies by sales and service, missed appointments due to service personnel messing up, and waiting hours for a simple oil change. I especially like how you don’t sent out surveys to people when your service or sales people screw up. Covering up by not sending surveys is just going to get you in a bind and sued someday when you try and cover up the wrong thing. Don’t try and rebut this message because any thing you say contrary to it is a lie and you know it. Sincerely, a valued but now lost customer.

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewPurchased a new car from them with all the promises of excellent service. After 40000 miles there was a sharp noise from the brakes. On my way home I visited the service department to make sure it is safe to drive. I was told they have no time. I complained to noth america headquarters. There answer was we do not control the dealers. I will never buy a hyundai.

Julia
My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI purchased a 2011 Santa Fe and could not have had an easier experience. Julia was very friendly, honest, and a low-pressured salesperson but did the job well. The vehicle was delivered with a full tank of gas, cleaned really nice, and we even scheduled my first service visit. Julia went through everything with me while I was waiting to go in finance, from setting up my phone to bluetooth, going through the little manual, etc., so it didn’t feel like I was wasting time while I was waiting. Kelly was great in finance too. Everyone there seemed really nice and I’d recommend it to my friends. Warranty forever is nice too if you keep your cars “forever”!

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with this dealership. My brother and myself have in total purchased 4 cars from Great Lakes Hyundai. I highly recommend Scott. He was an honest, fair and very nice salesman. He respected all of my requests and took great care of me. I’m getting ready to trade my 08 Sonata in and will definitely be reaching out to Scott. I’ve also been having cars serviced here since they opened and have been happy with the great specials they run and the service. The play area for the children is very nice too.

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewIn 2009 I purchased a gently used 2008 Accent. I fell in love with the car and everyone was very helpful when buying my car. Now though almost 2 years later, I wish I would have never bought my car there. Each and every time after I purchased my vehicle and went in for oil changes I feel like I was treated worse and worse. I feel as if it was a bit of discrimination because I am a young women. When I first purchased my car I was told that I had a life time warranty as long as I brought it in for its regular oil change. I was mislead as I later found out that I had to do everything by the service book. Had I known this I would not have purchased the car from this dealer. A few days later I cam to discover there was no jack in my car that was promised to be there when I went to pick it up. I had to drive an hour just to get this. I also was not given a spare key when I purchased the car and had to return twice more to retrieve a spare key that actually worked. The cashier/receptionist always acts very unprofessional and can be rude at times. The service department is very slow when you come in for a regular oil change. This last time that I went in for oil change I was persuaded to spend 600$ on maintenance according to my owners guide. I did not give into this because I don’t have that kind of money to spend when I was not told these things when I bought the car. I waited almost an hour and 45 mins. for a simple oil change. This is wayyy to long. I wish I would have never purchased my car here. It was a waste of time and money. Please don’t purchase your vehicle here and tell everyone you know not to either.

Robert (manager)
My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI bought a 2005 Elantra from your Streetsboro location! My Dad took me here because of the Hyundai name and that’s the make I wanted. The Used car manager Rob was so helpful and nice when we were purchasing car! Than 5 days later the Clutch went out and my 3 year old daughter and I were without a RELIABLE car Again! My Dad thought buying a car from a SO CALLED GOOD CAR DEALER would be better than from someone in the classified ads. Well we were SO WRONG!! My dad called the salesman we bought from and talked to Rob(used manager) thinking he would be as pleasant as when we bought the car , WRONG!!! We have told several people about this exp. at your Dealership in Streetsboro and none of them had anything good to say either! Why is that? When we went in on 3-30-11 and asked for the manager to get some of the $1000.00 it cost me to repair a car that should have lasted more than 5 days, we were treated like we were TRASH! The manager Bob Petrus never asked our names, talked to us like we were a problem never like a customer! He repeated himself over and over, “I have to talk to my used car manager Rob tomorrow and I will call your Dad as to what the offer was that Rob told your Dad” before saying anything!! He really didn’t care about me or the fact that I am 22 and may be a Future Customer for many years if I had been treated more Fairly! He acted like I didn’t even just buy a car from you less than 30 days ago ! Bob Petrus made me feel like I was nothing at all in his office, Very RUDE to me and my Aunt! He repeated at least 6 times I will call your Dad Tomorrow ( 3-31-11) which as of today 4-2-11 STILL NO CALL how rude of a manager! I was promised by Rob on 2-25/26-2011 that he would call than too but as of today NO CALL and NO CHECK from him either!! What kind of car dealer is this where I get no response from your used car manager or your general manager when we are told by both of them they would call and send a check?? Well it is now almost 6 weeks , NO MONEY, NO CALLS and I am stuck with $1000.00 bill for a car I have only driven 5 days!!! I spoke to Liberty Ford in Maple Hts and Tim Lally and asked them what they would do if someone purchased a car AS IS and the clutch went out after 5 days and both managers said they would pay for half or fix it at there dealership at no cost! Both of them couldn’t believe when we told them how GREAT Lakes Hyundai treated us because of this 2005 Elantra that obviously had this clutch issue before I even drove it off your lot! My Aunt works in the car repair business! We asked several mechanics that verified what we already thought , that this car I purchased had CLUTCH problems way before I drove it off the lot!!! The general manager Bob basically said because I wasn’t an exp. clutch driver that I Blew out the clutch in 5 days ( I drove less than 50-70 miles ) to myself and my Aunt Nancy on 3-31-11 at 3:30 pm which I know that’s not the truth! I have been treated so badly by everyone at this dealership that I will be filing complaints with the BBB and AG,s so that no one else gets RIPPED off by this DEALERSHIP!! I am hoping someone at a higher level of management for Hyundai would have enough courtesy to call me or even my father back to discuss how badly we have been treated at this specific dealership that carries your name on it!! We haven’t received any calls from ROB or BOB even though both said they would call tomorrow, which was 6 weeks ago!!! I would also like you to know that BOB Petrus ( your General Manager) needs to treat customers ( past and maybe future) with more courtesy because he was so rude to me and my Aunt when we came in to discuss this issue we felt like he really didn’t care if we liked it or not whatever he said!! I really think he needs to listen more to customers instead of acting like he is the boss and doesn’t really care if you like it or not!!! That’s how we felt, he was right and didn’t care at all if we were present, past or future customers he really DID NOT care if we came back ever again!! My parents have never been treated so badly by any car dealer in the 34 years of buying cars from dealers and we will NEVER BUY a car here from this dealer ever again! I will tell everyone this AWFUL exp. we had at Great Lakes Hyundai forever! I would really appreciate a call form the district manager ASAP if this is possible! Thank You
Bethany Musarra and ( Dad) Russ Musarra

My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewDon’t know about the other reviews but I was traveling out of town and they treated me great. Had to do some scheduled maintenance and fix a small problem. They were very professional and went out of their way to treat everyone professionally. Great service and very nice people. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone

Jon Fields, Scott Howell & Rob Sieler
My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI bought a 2008 Hyundai Sonata from Great Lakes Hyundai a little bit ago. I really didn’t like the attitude of the original salesman that I worked with (John Fields) so I went to a different salesman there (Scott Howell). Scott was a lot more helpful and a lot nicer than John so I ended up buying the car. Soon after we agreed on a price the very average service went South and fast. It seemed like as soon as I said “yes” they felt like their jobs were done. They barely put any gas in the car and failed to even give me an owner’s manual when they told me one was in the glove box. I called a few days later to remind them that I needed an owner’s manual (even emailed them) and I didn’t hear from them until a week later, when I called them again. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor by not charging me $30 for the owner’s manual when I was promised one in the first place. Also, I asked them to clean up the used car that I was buying and they did a terrible job. I ended up spending about 2 hours taking stains out of the seats and fixing their screwed up wax job when I got it home. Since the car wasn’t clean when I bought it I missed a chip in the paint on the hood, maybe about 1/4th the size of a dime, and didn’t see the rust on the wheels. When I called them the same week that I bought the car and asked them if they could help me out with this stuff they wanted to charge me $140 for something that they should have taken care of in the first place. I was nothing but polite with them and in turn was totally disrespected by the staff. It really made me mad to know that I spent almost $13,000 on a new car just to be mocked by the same people I bought it from. They were very rude and I ended up having to take my business elsewhere.
Lesson learned:
DO NOT GO TO GREAT LAKES HYUNDAI!

Sheldon
My Great Lakes Hyundai reviewI have had numerous problems with my ’07 Hyundai Sonata. In fact, I have been into various service shops at least 13 times in the 2 yrs that I have owned the car. But of all of the service places that I have visited, Great Lakes Hyundai is by far the worst. The service manager, Sheldon, is unwilling to help and charges $25 just to have the car looked at. He admitted that the brakes have a design flaw and was unwilling to help in any way except to charge me $500 to clean them. He was rude and as a result I have decide to NEVER buy a Hyundai again and I am planning on trading my current vehicle in as soon as possible.
