I drove 2 hours to the dealership when I was told they had the F 150 I was looking for.
Things started out well enough until the little "games" started. I thought since I had the "internet price" in writing via email, that the price was already negotiated and set. No so. The "dance" began when the financing part came up. All of a sudden they were having trouble with financing. I have "average" credit according to him. No slow pays, make plenty of money, have longevity on the job and residency. No slow pays at all. So, you can imagine, this had me perplexed. This should have been a "no brainer".
Ron suggested I was purchasing "too much vehicle" and if the "ncentives" went away, maybe we would be more successful with financing me. What? Taking off the $5,500 worth of incentives would make me financing MORE. Hm..how was that better? Oh, that's right, better for him.
I went from financing $27,000 to a whopping $33,000!!! This before TTL etc. So much for "internet pricing". Man, I wasted my entire day off with this game of "back and forth". No thanks. I'll buy elsewhere and at a dealership that will honor their internet price and not play games.
Everything was fine up to the point of dealing with the Finance Manager. Good salesman and a great test drive of an F150. I had already told them I was using the GAP Insurance $1000 credit toward a $2000 down payment. When I met Finance Manager in his office he told me knew nothing about that although it was clearly noted on the paperwork sitting on his desk. He then let me know I would have to return when I could could show him paperwork on how GAP Insurance worked in this situation. He clearly was not going to waste his time researching a customer issue. So I wasted 2 hours of my day and Bob Tomes lost a truck sale. I will be buying an F150 as soon as I get another day off. It is a great product.
