ABSOLUTELY THE WORST SALES EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Classic bait and switch! I was shopping for a used car to use for a 4 month work assignment in the Bay Area. Found a reasonably priced 2001 Outback on the internet, yet it was slightly over my budget of $7000 I had to spend total (the car was listed at $6899), yet made arrangements to test drive it. The car was very clean, and had good Carfax record, so I told the salesman (Robert) that I really liked the car, but only had $7000 total to spend. After being left in his tiny office for over an hour while he spoke to the manager, he finally came back and said that that they would $7000 out the door. Cool, I thought that was easy. They had me start filling out the paperwork, and then Robert came back a little while later and said sorry, they forget to add a fee, and that it would by $7111.16. I was taken back a little, but asked again, now this is out the door, taxes and everything are included? And Robert confirmed yes. I wrote a check for that amount which they took, and I told them that I'd have to come pick the car up tomorrow evening. They said no problem, but there were a couple people in front of me and that I'd have to wait a little while to process the paper work. After waiting another hour, now minutes before closing, they told me that they would finish the paperwork when I came back tomorrow to pick up the car. When I showed up the next day, Robert was not there, but was led to their manager to finish the paper work. I was told by the manager, Mahhud, that the price did not include tax. I was irrate, and through lengthly conversations, told him that I had confirmed with Robert that it did include tax, and in Robert's own words, "out the door price". Mahhud of course said they would never do this, and I'd need to pay another $800 tax. I wripped up the check, walked out, and bought a different car down the street. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS! Ontop of all this, when looking at the car, it was missing the back compartment cover. I mentioned to Robert that I really needed one of those, and he said no problem, they would through one in, they have them laying around. Before leaving the night I was told to come back tomorrow and finish the paper work, I asked Robert if had gotten one the the compartment covers, and I was told, sorry, I couldn't find one that fit.....I should have known something was up then!

Stay away from the service department if at all possible. Warranty work can be done at Capitol or Carlsen. These guys took 6 tries and 2 years to fix a leak in the sunroof of the new Outback I purchased from them. What a waste of my time to keep bringing the car in for them to dry the carpet out and check the seals and spray water and say they find no leak. When they finally took me seriously and found the problem, they tried to say the warranty expired. Heck no... I've been bringing this problem in after every rain since the car was purchased. They backed off on that one. But then when I got home after the fix I found two plastic parts in the back of my car. These parts bolted in the front wheel wells, and without them the wheel well liner hung down and driving home rubbed holes in them. I called the service rep (Duane) and explained to him to fix the problem when I bring the car in for the next service. 5 months later I bring the car in and the service manager says I waited too long and it will be $160 to fix (or only $80 if I buy $800 tires which I can get for $500 anywhere else). I just took my car and walked away.

If you are on top of your stuff and have time to hastle with them you can probably get what you want. But if you're like me and can barely find the time to bring the car in for regular service, and want to be taken seriously without acting like an ass, you're better off with Capitol Subaru or Carlesen Subaru service (I've used both).

These guys are trying to make money and will try to rip you off if they think they can get away with it.

I was looking at a 2006 Mustang convertible at Oaktree Mazda and was very close to buying it when I saw a 2007 Mustang convertible at Stevens Creek Subaru.I called them and inquired about the 2007 and they told me to give them a chance to sell me their car before I bought the 2006.When I stopped by to test drive their car I told them what could they do for me and they gave me the old lowball on my trade in and did not come down on the price of their car, when I told them thanks but no thanks and to give me back my keys and registration because I was going to the other dealer and buy their car they asked me what I wanted and I told them give me this much for my trade in and sell me their car for this much and I would buy right now because I did not want to play any games I just wanted to buy a car, my prices I was asking were right in the ball park because I had did my home work in fact I actually got a great price on my trade in and a steal on the price of the 2007 Mustang gt California Special convertible with 14000 miles on it and they are only asking 1,900 dollars more for my 2004 Nissan Titan than they gave me for it and that is after they put new tires on it ,a new batterry which it did not need as the die hard in it was only 1 year old and a detail job.I think these guy are pertty honest when they sell a used car and when you let them know you are serious about buying a car they get down to serious numbers and let me tell you I drove away very

I'd like to start by saying I was very impressed with the test-drive experience I recently had at Steven's Creek Subaru. The WRX hatch-back that I drove was a stunning car, and a really fun experience.

However, I'd like to comment on the customer service of Steven's Creek Subaru in Santa Clara. I was working with Roy Jones Jr. and his sales manager (whose name I unfortunately didn't receive) and looking to purchase the 2008 WRX I had driven.

Roy led me into an office under the impression that I would have a quote in 10 minutes. After 2 hours, and being personally insulted by Roy's manager, I had to demand the keys and registration to my own personal car (which they took to "inspect it for trade-in value") so that I could leave. Roy's manager repeatedly tried to stall my departure by "running numbers" in the back office while still not returning my car keys. They eventually came back with the number they had run, but instead of going over them together, as a team, they were out to convince me to make a purchase then and there.

The quoted price is not the issue, but rather the exemplary disregard for my feelings, personal dignity, and purchasing thought-process with which Roy and his manager behaved. Roy's manager repeatedly belittled me when I requested time to think about the quote, saying things like "what is there to think about," and "I'm trying to make a sale here." Before being man-handled by Roy and his manager, I was seriously considering buying that car, but after the treatment I received at this dealership, Roy and his manager have permanently lost my business.

I'm hoping I can find a better, nearby Subaru Dealership, as I really liked that car, but I will not be spending my hard earned money at a place that insults its potential customers, hassles them, steals their keys and registration for their personal vehicles, and says 10 minutes but really means 2 hours.

I will be sending this review to the Better Business Bureau as well as posting it on a handful online dealership rating websites.

I sincerely hope that the "exemplary customer service" rating they received doesn't mean that I will be treated even worse at other Subaru dealerships.

Respectfully.
