My Shakers Lincoln reviewPrior to meet the sales person, I did all my research about the car that I was about to buy.
The car I found with this dealer was the exact thing we needed for the family.
Well, it turned out negative after we met the sales people and tried to negotiate.
Was very disappointed with the sales people at Shaker’s The total negotiation time was only 5 mins or even less. Was planning to buy a nearly new (used) Kia Rondo. The were very unfriendly and harsh too.
They never reduced even a penny, even though I had Proof of KBB value of the car.
It was an instant response from them ” Think we are off this deal” was the response.

My Shakers Lincoln reviewI had a terrible experience at Shaker’s.
I saw a pre-owned vehicle on the internet and called to inquire about it. As I live an hour from this dealership, I wanted to save everyone time by asking about the flexibility of the price before driving there. I told the salesman what I could spend, and he consulted his manager and made me an offer that was slightly higher than I originally considered spending, but I felt the price was fair and I was inerested in the car. I went in to test drive the car, and decided to purchase it. I did not negotiate the price with the salesman any further, and agreed to pay the price that he had offered me over the phone.
The salesman told me that they already knew they had to put 4 new tires on the car, and that they had to replace some aftermarket headlights that were put in by the previous owner, and that the car probably needed brakes, which they would do. I left a deposit, and at that time when he filled out the paperwork, he told me, and wrote on the contract, that the entire deal was going to depend upon how much the required work would cost them, and if they found it would cost them more than they anticipated, they would not be able to sell me the car. But he had not mentioned that at all when he offered me the car at that price over the phone, before I drove over there.
Two days later, The salesman called me to tell me that EVERYTHING WAS FINE, and he made an appointment with me to pick the car up. I was relieved that it was all going to work out.
ONE HOUR LATER, the sales manager calls to tell me that they can’t sell me the car because they needed to put brakes in, rewire the headlights, and put the tires on (all of the items that the salesman already told me about at the sale), and that it had cost them too much, and so they couldn’t sell me the car. He said that they would keep the asking price as it was on the internet, but that they could not negotiate that price at all. It was $1500 more than they had originally offered it to me for.
I can even understand that these items may have in the end cost them more than they had anticipated, but I doubt the very same repairs that the salesman already knew about the day I spoke to him wound up costing $1500 more than they imagined. They already knew about the low profile tires, because the salesman already told me about them, and I doubt the lights and brakes together cost $1500 more than they thought. It’s highly improbable.
Regardless, there was absolutely no attempt by this dealership to honor a deal they had negotiated, or at least try to work with me to make the sale, and take some responsibility for the fact that they were irresponsible enough to make offers before knowing what the car actually needed.
I don’t understand how car dealers can make deals with people, take their deposits, and call them to tell them that EVERYTHING’S FINE, without actually getting the final word from the mechanics. How do they even sell cars that they haven’t thoroughly checked out first? I would have even understood if the manager had made me some kind of offer at that point, and I would have considered paying $500 more than the original price, but he said the asking price was now non-negotiable completely! I think for an established business that claims that their reputation is everything, conducting business in that fashion is just terrible for their reputation.
